Maintained a suite of applications developed to expedite the transfer of software parts amongst suppliers, airlines, engineers, the software library and any other stakeholders. This system was implemented using several technologies and languages including Java, JavaScript, STRUTS, AJAX, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, Eclipse, WebSphere, Tortoise SVN, and many others. Became involved in testing, business decision making, debugging code, creating new projects, project management, multi-platform systems work, troubleshooting through log files using MS-DOS and presenting solutions to problems and inconsistencies. Additionally gained experience in task estimation, user criticality, working with big data, the agile programming framework, lean+ and business prioritization. Responded to production issues 24/7 with on-call support. Defended the application from security threats based on a continuous application scan reports. Monitored an automated task that generated Excel spreadsheet reports based on application data using DB2, AQT, SharePoint, Excel, Windows Task Manager, FTP, batch and SQL files which occurred daily, weekly or even monthly. Automated the setup our developer workstation using WebSphere, Jython, Eclipse Configurations, MS-DOS and easy to follow How-To Documentation. This cut down the process from 8 hours to less than 30 minutes each time a workstation needed to be setup which was crucial because developers found themselves resetting their workstations frequently. Administered a disaster recovery plan for our business critical system to eliminate any downtime by swiftly setting up a backup system that we tested in annually. Took independent applications and connected them onto one universal platform.

My first exposure to the business processes involved in software development. Designed screen mockups for the program in order to make it more user friendly. Did my first stress testing on the application to make sure it can handle large volumes.

Don't Be Fooled

  • When selling, do not put your home address in your ad.
  • To avoid scams, buy and sell with people you can meet locally, in person.
  • When meeting with someone you don't know, meet in a public place. If that's not possible, have a buddy with you. Also, carry a cell phone; if you feel unsafe, you can call a trusted friend, and stay on the line.
  • Never give out financial or private information like account numbers, PayPal login, or social security number.
  • If an offer sounds too good to be true, it is. Walk away!
