This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment:
Must obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Water Distribution Manager II Certification and to obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Water Distribution Manager III Certification within 12 months of employment. Must obtain and maintain a Water Treatment Plant I Certification issued by the State of Washington. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) Utility Systems Repairer-Operator (Water Treatment Plant) without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common duties as a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator (Water Treatment Plant) in the operation and maintenance of a Water Treatment Plant, Storage System, Wells and associated equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Occasionally opens and closes heavy valves and lifts heavy equipment and tools. Sometimes works in strained positions while cleaning equipment. Continuously walks up and down stairs and around the plant while checking equipment. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. WORKING CONDITION:
Works both inside and outside. Is subject to damp and varied weather conditions for substantial amounts of time. Is exposed to infections or diseases while cleaning equipment or handling biosolids. Is exposed to danger of asphyxiation and injury from contact with wastewater, storm water, gas and fumes. Severe injuries may result from falls into open tanks. May be required to wear a respirator or breathing apparatus and safety harness. Must be familiar with and utilize confined space entry procedures.
