Job Overview:
Provides professional accounting and financial analysis support. Gathers, organizes, and analyzes information in the completion of both routine and special assignments under varying amounts of guidance and direction. Interfaces with all levels of the Company in addressing financial questions, results, and variances and procedures. Supervises staff and manages relationships with external vendor partner.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Responsible for maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for driving business results and act as key liaison for issue resolution and escalation.
Monitor service level metrics and key performance indicators (KPI)
Reports, analyzes and explains weekly estimates, period, quarter and annual projections and reporting and other financial performance reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in the commitment process and assist in tracking financial results compared with annual commitment.
Leads, coordinates and reports on special projects relating to operations analysis, accounting policy and procedures, best practices review, ROIC and other finance and operational projects.
Prepares and gives finance and operational presentations to management
Provides support to the VP/Director, Finance/Accounting, for the coordination and preparation of key performance reports for both operations and corporate management.
Prepares various financial reports and analysis for various segments of the business. For example, analysis and forecasting in the following areas: promotional and advertising impact to sales, margins and earnings; promotional allowances; physical inventories and shrink; competitor impacts and comparisons.
Coordinates resolution of accounting or finance questions affecting operating results. For example, accounting treatment of costs, bonus target adjustments.
Develops and maintains special analytical tools and recommendations for actions to improve profitability.
Responsible for the evaluating, recommending, maintaining and monitoring appropriate internal controls.
Review and approve updated policies and procedures in addition to internal control documentation.
Reviews and analyzes Return on Investment Capital (ROIC) and cash flow analysis related to new and closed stores, possible acquisitions and other related events.
Direct the Information Technology department to ensure system implementation, top efficiency data processing service, telephone systems and office equipment provided to the Division and Company to maximize efficiency at the lowest possible cost.
Monitor accounts receivable and credit on an on-going basis to assess the level of risk, in connection with other senior management, to the Division in the area of credit exposure. Pursuant to SUPERVALU''s Credit Policy, the incumbent will initiate corrective action, if necessary. The incumbent will ensure the Director - Finance, Northern & Western regions, as well as Division President is kept appraised of any exceptions to SUPERVALU''s Credit Policy.
Play a significant role in the development of quarterly plans and the strategic planning process, continually assessing the Division's strengths and weaknesses, defining a strategic vision and goals and objectives.
Perform customer profitability analysis and provide analysis and recommendations to management.
Works on special projects as directed by the VP/Director, Finance/Accounting.Assists the VP/Director, Finance/Accounting, in training and developing the skills of the finance staff.
Responsible for staffing coaching, developing, and performance management for direct reports.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Accounting or Finance preferred, MBA desired.
Eight or more years in accounting or finance environment; CPA preferred.
Project Management experience.
Excellent business writing, communicating and analytical skills.
Excellent PC and related spreadsheet application skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
The ability to work effectively in a high growth environment and a rapidly changing organization.
