Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to perform security observing work in the Tacoma Hotel by monitoring the premises, by using CCTV or DVR equipment, creating a safe, friendly environment for guests and employees.
Knowledge of:
basic security procedures; understanding of parking lot and parking garage operations; and surveillance equipment.
Skills in:
basic report writing techniques; use and operation of a two way radio and communicating effectively with guests and patrons of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Ability to:
learn and demonstrate all required trainings which include various take down methods; observe, patrol, and inspect parking garage and parking lot areas on foot and using CCTV or DVR for surveillance purposes in observation room; ensure a safe work environment for guests and casino employees; observe and report violations of established policies and procedures or illegal criminal activity; accurately complete incident statements that are grammatically correct and error free; communicate effectively in writing and verbally to casino patrons having a diverse cultural and ethnic background; prepare written incident reports and interview witnesses; deal tactfully and professionally with casino guests; respond to emergencies and inquiries and provide assistance when necessary; attend required training programs on a routine basis; provide escort services to patrons and employees; safeguard facilities, equipment, and assets of the casino; safely operate security vehicles in the parking lot areas or on a designated driving route; enforce security department policies and procedures; deal tactfully and professionally with guests and employees at all times; assist other Security Officer staff and Casino employees; work in a crowded work environment; and represent the Security Department in a professional manner at all times at any assigned area.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required Experience & Requirements:
Previous Security experience is required Must have excellent communication and guest relation skills Basic report writing skills is required Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License with a good driving record and be able to provide a current driving abstract with the ability ti be insured and bonded Additional education or related experience may substitute for the minimum requirements of this position Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand for longer than 8 hours Must be able to maintain a high level on concentration The ability to lift up to 75 pounds Mobility to climb stairs on a routine basis Must be able to tolerate a smoke filled environment Additional Requirements:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen Upon offer must obtain a Class IIIA Gaming License ($273 - 335) Must be able to work all scheduled shifts to include day, swing, graveyard and holidays Must be able to obtain a Class IIIA license as required by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission.
