59 PM PacificPOSITION DESCRIPTION The primary duties include monitoring parks for improper use by visitors and ensuring compliance of established Park Rules & Regulations.
This would include promoting respect for park grounds and educating park visitors.
This position would be responsible for providing a better experience for the citizens enjoying our parks, while cutting down on vandalism and illegal activities.
Dacca, Brookville and 5 Acre Parks have a large number of users, and will be the target of the Informational Officer, in an effort to be a constant, recognizable presence.
SHIFT:
Evenings and weekends ESSENTIAL DUTIES Monitors parks, trails, athletic fields and similar park areas to promote positive user experiences and increase public safety.
Exhibits a high degree of customer service skills and positive attitude with staff and general public at all times; explains park rules and government regulations; uses tact and diplomacy to handle public inquiries and complaints.
Directs the general public on the proper and safe usage of park facilities and amenities.
Prevents infractions of park rules through conversation, and calls for police assistance if circumstances warrant.
Maintains a high degree of visibility to reduce the likelihood of large groups gathering and unauthorized use of amenities.
Resolves conflicts with a friendly demeanor.
Requires driving to various park locations and working nights and weekends.
Uses safety equipment provided, implements appropriate safety practices at all times and immediately reports any unsafe conditions or hazards.
Performs light janitorial work including trash collection and cleaning restrooms.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with customer service, client/complaint resolution.
Effective oral communication skills are required to respond to the general public.
Must be 18 years old at time of hire.
REQUIRED LICENSES/ TRAINING:
Valid Washington State Driver's License with good driving record Possession of, or the ability to obtain First Aid and CPR/AED Certification Card.
Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Knowledge of:
Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with the public/patrons and recommend appropriate action.
Principles and practices of customer service.
Knowledge of City of Fife Park Rules.
Ability to:
Conduct field patrols by vehicle or foot.
Communicate effectively with the public in difficult situations in a professional manner.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with city employees, patrons and the public.
Represent the city in a positive, efficient manner by exercising good judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Respond to inquiries from patrons and others, and refer, when necessary to appropriate staff.
Effectively assess situations and know when to contact law enforcement Work irregular hours including weekends, evenings and occasional holidays.
Operate vehicles and equipment safely and effectively.
Demonstrate physical strength and agility to perform the work in a safe manner with normal vision, depth perception and eye/hand coordination.
Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
