Reporting to the HR Director of the SW Region, the Employee Relations Specialist ensures that human resource programs support the long-term goals of the organization.
This position performs professional work of considerable difficulty overseeing a range of administrative functions related to human resource management, employee development, employee relations, and customer service.
This position also conducts regular HR training for employees and supervisors.
Manages and address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
Does initial intake of complaints that identifies witnesses, and any other pertinent information that is relevant to the complaint.
Based on the intake will conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
Refers complex employee relation issues to the Director of HR.
Works closely with department heads, supervisors, managers and staff on employee relations acting as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resource issues relating to the assigned program or section area.
Also provides advice and counsel to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and production.
Ensures program or section area are following established policies and procedures with any relevant federal, state or local legislation.
Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending change management strategies and improvement of workflow in the program or section area.
Conducts periodic audits of human resource activities to ensure compliance with laws, policies and procedures.
Works on special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
Presents training sessions related to the assigned program or section area.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Researches, analyzes data and prepares daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on HR trends, new HR project suggestions and current program goals and progress.
Other Duties as Assigned.
This position must have an excellent understanding and commitment to upholding Catholic social teachings as well as the organizations mission and values of serving those individuals, children, families, and communities struggling with poverty and the effects of intolerance and racism, and to actively join with others to work for justice.

4 Year Degree in Human Resource Management, Business or related field.
May be substituted for on the job experience.

Minimum 8 years of experience resolving complex employee relation issues.

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

Technology focused and driven, HRIS database (ADP and Infor preferred) ability to analyze data and identify employee trends.

Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.

Strong ability to problem solve set and meet deadlines, communicate, work under pressure, organize, prioritize, manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to self-check work.

Adaptable to new or changing circumstances, sensitive to employee needs, self-motivated
Ability to carry out multiple tasks with both concrete and abstract variables.

Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism.

Ability to adapt quickly and implement changes with policy and practices to support organizational, state and federal leave requirements

Qualifications:

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credentials.

Masters Degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
